Both leading ladies in The Hills, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, had blonde hair.

And perhaps formerly dark and mysterious brunette Audrina Patridge is hoping to emulate her former co-stars' success as she prepares to debut her very own reality show. The 25-year-old stepped out in Los Angeles yesterday with her long hair bleached a much lighter blonde.

Khloe Kardashian Goes Back to Brunette

http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/38213-khloe-kardashian-goes-back-to-brunette-after-nine-days/1295141790_khloe-kardashian-hair_290.jpgKhloe Kardashian's latest hair color had her seeing, well, red -- which explains why the 26-year-old reality star went back to her natural brunette shade early Saturday morning.

"I had to dye my hair back to brown. I love being a brunette, don't get me wrong, but red was so much fun! I was only red for a like a week," she tweeted Saturday. "The red was too short-lived! I'll be a redhead again, but today I'm being a brat because I want my red hair back now."

Given that Kardashian debuted her strawberry blonde 'do just nine days ago at the People's Choice Awards, what made her decide to go back to her roots so soon?

"Khloe starts filming her show with Lamar [Odom] and E! wanted her to stay consistent all season," a source tells Us Magazine. "It was a test run. She loved it."

Not that fans of the reality star should be too surprised by the quick hair turnaround: Kardashian recently admitted she was having trouble adjusting to her new look.

"I still get taken aback every time I see pics of myself with my new red hair," the reality star wrote on her blog on January 9. "I literally didn't recognize myself."

Julianne Hough: Ryan Seacrest Likes Me Blonde

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2011/stylewatch/blog/110124/julianne-hough-300x400.jpgAfter a brief stint as a brunette, Julianne Hough is happy to be back to blonde. “It’s just [more] ‘Julianne’,” Hough told PEOPLE of the look, which she debuted at a Bulgari Save The Children benefit in Beverly Hills yesterday.

“The brown was for a movie so I’m back to being me.” The total transformation, however, has yet to be completed. “I just went blonde today, and there still needs [to be] some work done, so next week we’re doing that,” she explained.

Finding time may prove challenging for the triple threat, who just completed her second album and will attend the Golden Globes on Sunday, joining boyfriend Ryan Seacrest after he finishes hosting duties for E!’s Live From The Red Carpet.

And which hair color does Seacrest prefer on his girlfriend? Says Hough, “He likes the blonde for sure.”

Lauren Conrad's Brunette Hair: Love It or Hate It?

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2011/stylewatch/blog/110117/lauren-conrad-300x400.jpghttp://www.bartcop.com/lauren-conrad-02.jpg

What a colorful week it’s been! The same night that Khloe Kardashian was taking her hair from raven to red, Lauren Conrad debuted a darker do that was a distinct departure from her signature sun-kissed color.

LC stepped out at CoverGirl’s 50th anniversary bash in L.A. on Wednesday with deep brunette hair touched just at the tips with subtle blonde highlights.

And while this isn’t the first time the former Hills star has darkened up, the last time we saw her with anything dark, she was rocking a wig for a fashion photo shoot.

What do you think about Lauren's new hair color?

She should go back to blonde.
I love it! Great for the season.

Lauren Conrad Has Gone To The Dark Side

http://www.usmagazine.com/uploads/assets/articles/38004-lauren-conrad-goes-brunette/1294343364_lc-290.jpgDressed in a light beige Quail design and nude booties, Lauren Conrad showed off a brand new brunette hair color at Wednesday's CoverGirl 50th birthday party in West Hollywood.

It's a surprising move for Conrad, 24, who told Us Magazine in 2008, "There is something so sexy about having long blonde hair."

However, according to the star's hair pro, Kristin Ess, Conrad has been talking about trying a darker hue for a long time. "It was just time to go for it," says Ess. "We've done so many variations of blonde in the past and it's fun to do something new."

Ess and Conrad looked through red carpet photos for inspiration and loved Mila Kunis and Jessica Biel's "Brazilian brown" shade.

To get the desired effect, Ess first painted on a warm brown base, followed by bursts of highlights around the face and at the ends, topped off with a golden gloss to add shine.

In addition to changing her hair color, the former Hills star turned clothing designer and bestselling author is back to her (other) roots: filming a new reality show with MTV.

Kristin Cavallari Contemplates Life as a Brunette

It looks like former Hills star Kristin Cavallari may be embracing the show’s series finale by shedding her blonde bombshell image. The once buttery blonde darkened her hair to a shade of warm honey just in time for fall. “I just dyed it today!” Cavallari told PEOPLE at The Blackberry Torch Launch Party in Los Angeles this week.

“I was bored with my hair and it’s the first time I was able to dye my hair because of filming for The Hills. You could never change your hair. ‘I thought: I can, why not!’” To complete the transformation, the blonde beauty also added some wispy bangs for an updated look.

However, Cavallari admits she isn’t done going under the bottle and is even contemplating life as a brunette. “I don’t think I’ll be a full brunette but I definitely want to put a little bit more dark in it,” she said. “Not too much though.”
